Chihayafuru 2

i’m so excited! chihayafuru just came back and judging by the first season, the anime will just get better and better.

for those of you who didn’t watch the first season, i suggest that you watch it as soon as possible. it’s funny, the art is gorgeous, and all the characters are absolutely amazing.

it’s about chihaya ayase who loves karuta which is a card game in japan (just google karuta, it’s hard to explain…) that is also extremely competitive. when chihaya was younger, she met a boy named arata wataya who basically taught her how amazing karuta really was. ever since then, she’s been striving to be the best karuta player in japan and now she’s in high school and of course she starts a club and meets incredible people while playing karuta.

so far in season 2, it’s been great. it’s still hilarious, the art is still as good, and things seem like they’ll get better so definitely watch this anime!

Hakkenden: Touhou Hakken Ibun

here’s another promising new anime for all the supernatural action lovers out there.

it’s about a boy named shino who was a survivor of a neighboring town that burned down. since there are a bunch of rumors about why the village burned down, he and the others that he is close to are shunned by the other villagers. Shino was also given the blade called Murasame which is extremely powerful. everything peaceful in his life is disrupted when the imperial church tries to take murasame and force him to go to the capital.

the anime had a pretty slow start but i think that within an episode or two it’ll become really good. the art is great and there’s a lot of action to come, i think. anyways, i think that supernatural lovers should at least try watching the first episode and maybe the second when it comes out

Amnesia

this is one of the new animes that are part of the winter simulcast and i’m just going to review each of them after i watch them.

this anime is actually pretty strange/confusing. it’s about this girl who, at the beginning of the episode, passes out at the cafe where she works and loses her memories. then she meets two guys who are supposedly her two childhood friends but of course she can’t remember them. next, she talks to this spirit that only she can hear and realizes that his soul bumped into hers which caused her to lose her memory and she learns that she should go about her daily life and hope to regain her memories.

it’s okay if you like stories with amnesia. the art is amazing though. seriously, the art is gorgeous, the male characters are all really really REALLY hot, and the plot seems to be going somewhere. you should watch this if you’re more into the girly-shoujo animes

Fate Zero

i’ve been meaning to do a post on the fate stay night/ fate zero series so here it is! along with the music that i like

since fate zero is still airing, i’ll just summarize the anime.

it’s about the holy grail war where seven magi are chosen by the holy grail to fight for the wish that the grail will grant. in order to fight each other, the magi summon servants (mostly strong heroes of the past) and try to beat each other mentally and physically.

there’s some humor, a lot of action, and the story is irresistable. there is also a little bit of romance that makes everything better so everyone who needs a good anime should check this out.

im also in love with the openings and endings so here’s the list:

the first opening is oath sign by LiSA (Yui from Angel Beats)

the first ending is Memoria by Eir Aoi (the video is amazing, it shows the servants and their pasts. and the song is catchy in a good way)

the second opening is to the beginning by kalafina (if you haven’t seen my previous post, i LOVE kalafina! great song, perfect harmonies, it’s just amazing so definitely give this a try)

the second ending is sora wa takaku kaze wa utau by haruna luna (it has been stuck in my head all week! i love the lyrics, the music, and her voice! try this song too if you like nice melodies)

Spring 2012 Anime

i was watching kuroko no basket and having a blast when i realized that i didn’t even post anything about the new spring animes. i’m sorry for that. so here it is:

of course kuroko no basket

Fate Zero part 2 (i’m so happy it came back! don’t ever end!)

hiiro no kakera

Jormungand (https://hilarypham.wordpress.com/2012/01/11/jormungand/  OMG! THEY MADE AN ANIME! I CAN DIE HAPPY!)

Tasogare Otome x Amnesia (i’d give  this a 3/5. if you’re into more shounen stuff then try this)

Kuroko no Basket

this a great new manga/anime that just came out and so far, i’m loving the story

in the past three years of basketball history, there was a “generation of miracles” consisting of middle schoolers at teiko (did i spell that right?) middle school and all five were prodigies. but there was supposedly a sixth phantom member that was thought of as the best player by the other five members. so now, with the new school year, all the members of the “generation of miracles” have gone to their own prestigious high schools. at a certain school, the sixth player joins the basketball team and instead he’s weak and extremely easy to miss.

there’s a lot of humor, sports, and the art is amazing (for all the shoujo lovers out there, all the guys are good looking) so shounen people: you should watch this

Inu x Boku Secret Service

a great action-romance packed manga and anime that has a lot of humor and the cutest characters!

the story follows ririchiyo who is the descendant of an ayakashi. in the past, ayakashi and humans mixed and for some reason, the families with the ayakashi blood have always been very rich. but since the people who inherit the blood are seen as the ayakashi reincarnated, the families always treat them like the early ayakashi and so ririchiyo developed a sharp tongue to protect herself. since the descendants are weaker than full blooded ayakashi, to protect them there was a building where ayakashi descendants would live together with secret service body guards and they would band together in case they were attacked. the anime starts as ririchiyo moves in to the building, intending to live alone but she finds her own guard there. although she tries to get rid of him at first, she slowly gets to know him and meets the other people who live in the building.

i probably didn’t explain the plot right but definitely check this one out! there’s a lot of humor, the art is amazing (god, i want ririchiyo’s hair!), there’s romance, and there’s some action. the anime recently ended (the second i finished watching the last episode i wrote this post ;)) so watch this!!!

if you like supernatural animes/mangas, read this. just to convince you to watch the anime and read the manga, i’m gonna post a bunch of pictures

Natsume Yuujinchou

this has to be in my top favorite shoujo mangas ever. it’s sad, funny, and there’s an anime!

the story follows the book of friends that is a collection of numerous youkai‘s signatures and gives the owner of the book the power to control all those youkai. then natsume, who can see youkai, inherits the book from his grandmother who was notorious for defeating youkai back in her day. when he was younger his parents died and forced him to be moved from relative to relative and each of them ended up not liking him because he could see youkai. after moving with the fujiwaras who are kind and let him live with them, he starts to meet youkai and gets to know them more

it’s a touching story and the art in the manga is a little bit messy but i just love this so definitely check it out

Happy Asian New Year!

i’ve had my hands full with leaning, cooking, going to the temple, and studying for finals for the last few days and so the day is finally here!

since it’s a special holiday, here are a few mangas/animes that have a few asian new year scenes or episodes:

-fruits basket episode 9

-Shugo Chara Doki! episode 64

sorry, i could only remember two. expect lots of updates throughout the week because i’ll probably get distracted while studying for finals 😉

Happy Holidays! (W-Juliet)

sorry for the late post but i’ve been caught up in family, shopping, and sweet desserts but now i’m finally gonna post!

earlier today i started a new manga called W-Juliet and it’s got a funny and cute plot. It’s about this girl named Ito who looks more like a guy than a girl and a guy named Makoto who wants to become and actor but his dad doesn’t want him to so he made a deal that if he spent his high school life as a girl, he’d get to be an actor. Well, they meet fall in love and the story follows their crazy high school life together ;).

I also recommend all the other mangas by Emura like:

W-Juliet II (if you like W-Juliet, then read this too of course)

Grand Sun was a great read! i completely recommend it!

Michibata no Tenshi

Kyou mo Ashita mo

and Gokuraku Doumei although i didn’t really like this one

if you want to read any new years/chirstmas manga chapters and anime episodes here’s my list:

W-Juliet read chapters 18 and 19

Kaichou wa Maid Sama read chapter 56

a cute christmas oneshot i found was Ore no Subete ga Kimi no Mono

watch episode 17-19 of Toradora!

chapter 131.5 in Skip Beat!

episode 9 of Fruits Basket

If there are others you can think of, just add a comment but i can’t remember anymore new years/christmas scenes

Well, happy holidays. watch this video, i saw it and cried http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SAIEamakLoY&list=FLwd_RLtkQug2u8iI4fcT9vQ&index=2&feature=plpp_video. please don’t expect another post until a few days into january. we bought sparkling cider so……i’ll be out for a few days 😉

Kyousogiga

it finally came out! (actually, the official release date was a few weeks ago but let’s ignore that fact) after weeks of watching only trailers, i went crazy and watching this about five times.

the version i watched didn’t have subtitles but the art was amazing. the graphics were really clear cut and really up to the times good. the story is about a girl named koto and two other kids who are trying to find a rabbit that will bring them home. They’re in a place ruled by a monk, demon (?), and a priest and while they’re there, it’s total mayhem and there’s a really awesome opening. Then she discovers a secret plot (i’m trying really hard not to spoil it!) and it gets kinda weird but i loved it

rie kugimiya voiced koto and she is my favorite seiyuu because she do all the tsundere and crazy girl voices perfectly and in this show, she just nailed it!

if you love action, humor, and just great art, you have to watch this! even if you can’t understand what they’re saying, the graphics are good enough that you won’t even care about what the hell is going on. 😉

Hanasaku Iroha

this an anime i’ve been meaning to watch for a long time now and i finally started it!

the show is about a girl named ohana who has a really bad mom. one day, her mom runs away with her boyfriend and tells her to go to a hot spring inn called kissuiso since her grandma is there. the second she arrives, ohana is put to work to earn her keep and she undergoes training to become a waitress at the inn. it’s a really good slice of life story that makes you laugh sometimes then makes you cry.

it’s got romance, a cute tsundere, a lot of humor (but you have to get through the first two episodes then you start to love the show), and it’s just a good anime so i totally recommend it!

Zombie Loan

all the people who love shounen, zombies, and action, this is one of my favorite mangas and animes

it’s kind of old (2007 old) but the story is about these two guys who are zombies and a girl with special powers who have to pay back their debt since they paid a ferryman to keep themselves alive. it’s all about them fighting these other other zombies and it’s got humor, what I’d view as a littler bit of romance, and it’s just fun to read

there’s also an anime but it’s only 13 episodes long so it isn’t half what the manga is. there’s also a lot of horror too so if you liked mangas like a ton of action, this is perfect for you!
